Default exhaust systems

How close to the old classics can you get the new mustangs to sound? I really want my car to sound just like the car from Bullitt but how realistic is this. Seems like all the cars I've heard get real ricey in higher rpms instead of lower and throaty throughout.

Maybe it's possible with the v8 but good luck with a v6.

I mean, I'm running an O/R H-Pipe and FM 40s. It's loud and has that raspy, kind of tin can, old muslce car sound. I really like it.

Add another 2 cylinders and you will get the deep throaty exhaust tone! ;-)

when i wanted an old school 5.0 pushrod sound, i got a Fox body.
if you want the old school Bullitt sound, get a 1968 390 Mustang.

What you need to do is hunt down somebody who owns a 1960's XKE Jaguar or possibly a TR-6 Triumph. Maybe a 1970-ish Porsche 911, or even an early 1970's Datsun 240Z with a good exhaust.

It'll "recalibrate" your mind to associate the sixxer sound to something that doesn't carry a negative image. It's not a bad sound unless you let the bad association get in the way.

This is about as close to old school that I have gotten so far.....but plus I have 2 more cylinders than you....

Full 3'' Exhaust with Turndowns mounted before the rear axle.

Hooker Super Comp Longtubes
No Cats
3'' Magnaflow Tru X-Pipe
3'' In/Out Cherry Bomb Glass Packs with turndowns welded to them.....

This is not the newest video and the car looks nothing like it does in this video.....
