Default 2006 GT problem

My wife and I decide to go for a ride. We start the car and sit there for a couple of minutes while trying to tune some stations into the radio. After about 3 minutes the engine quits. I mean just stops running. No spitting, coughing, gurgling,....it just stops running. No big deal, we start it up again and go for a ride. 1 mile from the barn going down the road it quits cold turkey again and we get the Check Engine light. We get it started again and nurse it back home. We park in the driveway and let it run to see if it will quit again. After a few minutes it quits again. I start it up and drive it through the neighborhood. It quits again. I get it home and shortly thereafter it is on a tow truck to be taken to the dealer. Later that afternoon the dealer calls and says it's ready and they found the problem. Apparently some cars need to have the computer reflashed. My service guy told me they could not figure it out so they called "Ford" and they were told to reflash the computer. Cool. We go pick the car up and head for the barn. About 3 blocks away the engine quits and we get the Check engine light. Long story short. It's still at the Dealer trying to be fixed.

Any ideas out there? It is a little frustrating. The car only has 50 miles on it.

Just got off the phone with Ford Service. They are ordering a new computer. They seem to think it is defective. We will see. I won't be able to let everyone know for about 1 1/2 weeks. We are heading to Jackson Hole, Wyoming for a little R&R.

Hey folks I've got a question. When Ford installs this new Computer do I need to get a code or something from them if I want to use the Predator or SCT later on down the line??? It seems I read somewhere you need a 4 digit code found from somewhere around the fuse panel. OR am I confusing this with something else.

Thanks!!

The Predator will read the code itself. The instruction manual tells you how to do this.

The code is right on the computer itself. If you order an SCT X-Calibrator they will ask you for that code that and might look something like this: CDC3 CDC4 etc.

Thanks guys!! I must have been confused with something else with the fuse panel area.

I'm on the road but called my service guy Friday afternoon. He said they were just preparing to install the new computer. I haven't been in contact with him to see if it fixed it or not. I'll let the everyone know the outcome. Personally, I don't think it is the computer. I think a sensor of some kind is playing havoc and telling it to shutdown. But who knows maybe the new computer will do the trick.

---UPDATE----

We just returned from vacation yesterday and went straight to the dealer to pick up our supposedly fixed Mustang. They replaced the Computer AND did NOT program it from the original computer. The car now (knock on wood) runs like a WILD CRAZY HORSE!!!!

Well gotta go.................to the gas station.
