Default Vortech for the 05

Anyone have the kit installed also with dyno #'s? Just finished installing the watercooled kit over the Labor day weekend. Vortech whine still noticeable even w/ SQ version and love that whoosh from the bypass on gear changes. Waiting for dyno time to see what she makes now.

Did by myself in the driveway. Started Fri evening and finished Monday afternoon ... grrr. Course I've never worked on this car...so I went by the book step by step so it took longer than I planned. Love how the 05 has o rings now for intake gasket and thermostat housing. Did not have to buy any gaskets for the install. The kit has almost everything you will need aside from the tools. Ford even did us a favor by putting the gas tank under the passenger seat on the drivers side with an access hole...so no tank dropping nightmares to replace the fuel pump. Kit was about $4400.

Amazing! You feel the power increase?!
What power incrase does Vortech claim?

I'm still wondering if I should wait for the Whipple or go Vortech?

What skill level do i need to have to install myself? I have only replaced radiators,
breaks and oil changes on my previous cars. I've never taken a class or have any
friends that know "all about cars" that could help.

vortechs don't have a whine, they have a whistle.

i was present while a vortech'd 05 was being tuned. they had it up to 484RWHP, but it was leaning out. it was set at a safe tune at 450RWHP or something.

The instructions are pretty straightforward for installing the kit. There were some parts I had to stop and try to figure out what need to get done. Take note the intake manifold comes off and also the front bumper if you have the after cooler kit...but you'll be surprised how ez they come off.

450rwhp is encouraging...whistle/whine...its all the same. Feels and sounds like Im driving a jet nonetheless. I love driving the car even more now.

That's good to hear about the installation. I also lke the jet sounding part.

Seriously, how loud is that pressure releasing "woosh" sound? I heard this
Toyota MR2's super or turbo charger, and he was just making a slow left turn
from the red light across the way, I could hear it loud and clear sounding like
a city bus coming to a stop to let people off. That would get annoying! I got
to drive this thing to work every day I don't think I want that loud a sound all
the time.

So you got to tell me if you don't rev high, you don't hardly hear it or what?
I mean if i take it to 5-6K RPMs and sift it can be as loud as it wants.

I'm new to turbos and supercharger (but learning fast)
