To Those Who Told Me To Get a Real Mustang...

Well, I sold my 07 v6 auto that had 65K mi on it

Going to look at an 05 Roush Stage 1 Convertible 5 Speed with 69K mi on Saturday

Real excited

What are the main differences between a Roush Stage 1 and a standard GT?

bakerjd 10-20-2011 05:55 PM

It's all about appearance. Stage 2 introduces suspension upgrades and 3 includes the blower.

Congrats!

Ahh well - it's still a Roush haha

I'll be doing my interior 1st - carrying over what I took off the v6 before I sold it, a nice new hood, then a blower and the whole lot.

Here's hoping my mechanic gives me the okay

bmartin8732 10-20-2011 06:13 PM

best of luck!!!

mustang0672 10-20-2011 06:18 PM

So what you're saying is, that a V6 mustang isn't a real mustang?
I also don't get this in your signature..
"ON ORDER: 2012 Ford Mustang v6 Vert to arrive in July - I'm excited already!"

I'm saying that people told me to "get a real Mustang" when I bought the v6. Personally I thought they were wrong, but the more I drove it the more HP I wanted.

And about that - well - apparently due to some screw up - that car just came in last week. I decided not to buy it since some money issues came up.

When you want to know how much horsepower a V6 can make go look up American muscles V6....tell me that is not a real car..those people who told you that a V6 isn't a real mustang are stuck up "Oh I got a GT assholes". Funny thing is my dads 2006 V6 has beaten and has kept up with a brand new GT500 on the strip. People can say all they want about the guy not driving it right...the fact is that v6 has beaten GT mustangs many times with only exhaust, tune, and a cold air intake.

Owned. :icon_flamethrow:

Alec 10-20-2011 06:45 PM

Who gives a flying f*ck what people say?

The same ones are just gonna say you should have gotten a Stage 2,3 or 427R since the Stage 1 is essentially a GT with Jack Roush's name, a bodykit and a higher price tag

goodfun_gt 10-20-2011 06:47 PM

Real Mustang. :icon_mrgreen:

Just messin' with ya! I hate that talk when people say chit like you're not a real man unless you've got 8 cylinders in a Mustang. Blah blah blah....

Nuke 10-20-2011 06:50 PM

Strap a JATO unit on a grocery cart and you can whup azz...

bakerjd 10-20-2011 07:24 PM

What the hell does that even mean Nuke? Is that one of those jokes i'm too young to understand!? hahha

Tanner05 10-20-2011 07:26 PM

JATO is a rocket

07 Stang 10-20-2011 07:28 PM

So what constitutes a "Real Mustang" the engine size or horsepower? Because if you go back into Mustang history you will find that our little frail V-sixxers have waaaay more hp than the first generations and beyond. In fact the famed 1964, 289 cu in (4.7 L) Windsor V8
4-barrel had 210 hp (157 kW; 213 PS)@ 4,400.......our stock V-sixxers put out 210 hp. Slap a X Charger and you are well into the S197 GT territory.
I bought the V6 because I love the look and I knew I would not be using it to race with. Had I wanted a faster car, I would have went with a GT500 or the Boss 302. Oh and BTW, it is as real as you can get!

he is saying you can make anything go fast once you start throwing parts at it...

LOL, yea I looked it up after I posted that. Been a long week at work, already clocked ~50 hours in and I only get Sunday off (please ignore my lack of thought) lol.

Young_Gun 10-20-2011 08:51 PM

1 - I never said I agreed with them. I know v6's are real ponies

2 - I know they'll tell me to get a stage 2 or 3

3 - I got it for me - my foot just kept getting heavier and heavier haha

4 - I was going to body kit anything so buying a real Roush saves me a lot of money.

Ricardo 10-20-2011 09:11 PM

Congrats on the Roush! Post pics when you get the chance. I know a guy with a Stage 2 and it's really nice.

lol @ the people getting all defensive. It'll be ok, breath...

I get told all the time by GM guys to stop driving a girl's car even though it's a GT.

I tell them oh well, it's just a car and eventually we all die and will it matter then?

MustangFirstCar 10-20-2011 09:17 PM

Or you could ditch that boring old Roush and pick yourself up a Rebel SST. Just sayin'

ironh19 10-20-2011 09:42 PM

I said he needed a real mustang. I am glad I made a difference.

You're claiming a 2006 V6 with only exhaust, tune, and CAI beats GTs repeatedly? I think V6s are cool, they certainly can kick total ass with a blower, and the new ones (2011+) narrow the performance gap between a GT and a V6 considerably...BUT I'M CALLING BS ON THAT ONE!!

iron, when will you add something useful?

and congrats i guess, i remember when i first got on the boards a v6 member upgraded to a ne bullit. pretty much saying the same stuff.
i bought the car for me, not for you nor anyone else on this board.
its just a car.

Hotwheelracer 10-20-2011 11:59 PM

Most of the guys that that talk trash about 6ers have little pee-pees and have to make up for it with a bigger engines. :icon_starwars:

I kid you not, Just 2 weeks ago at the mojave mile, there was a guy with a go-cart that went faster than some of the GT500's there (somewhere around 155MPH... in a cart!). You can make anything go fast.
And the "it's not a real..." keeps going, gt500 owners to GTs, supersnake owners to GT500's, twin turbo's...

autos221 10-21-2011 05:13 AM

I had a 2007 v6 and I am glad I traded that thing for a 09 gt that thing sounded like a freaking trumpet

Warpig12354 10-21-2011 07:06 AM

Probably because you did something wrong.

Just like u said the guy didnt know how to drive it. So the same can be said about the guys u beat with GT's. I like the chest thumping though.

I would never buy a V6 Mustang as long as the V8 is available. I'd move to another car first. Just my 2 cents.

U take the amount of money they sank in that v6 and put in a gt and ur results would be a faster gt than the v6 given it was driven by the same guy. I have a buddy that says this. Why make or buy a sports car with a 6er in it. Now I understand why he says that and I understand why they make the v6. This is the first gt I have ever had and I can honestly say that I much rather have the a v8 over a 6 any day. However if i didnt have the job that I have now I would certainly still be sitting a v6.

Then ask American Muscle how much it cost to transform that V6 into the car it is. Then ask American Muscle to dump that much money into a GT500. You get my point.

Any car can go fast if you are willing to throw money into it.

Sorry, most people feel that a V6 does not qualify as a muscle car engine. It is a matter of opinion only. If you are happy buying a V6, then buy it.

arabianobsession 10-21-2011 10:01 AM

I guess we better throw out the C1 Corvettes then....

That BullS%#@T and you know it! Some of the FASTEST cars in the WORLD sport a V6 engine!
Jaguar XJ220
Top speed :217 mph+, 0-60 in 4.0 seconds. Horsepower 542, Twin Turbo V6 Engine

What about the Nissan GT-R??? Standard Engine 3.8L 530 hp V6
Horsepower 530 @ 6400 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 448 @ 3200 RPM

Hell why stop at the V8??? Why not anti-up and get a REAL MUSCLE car like a V10 or V12???

99GTvert 10-21-2011 10:23 AM

Haha. These threads spark genious logic.

Even if its slow, its still branded a Mustang...the only way to get more real than that is to buy the horse (or plane, which is debatable).
