Ok guys, I'm about to break 60k on the odometer and would like to know what I should take care of. I was told that the spark plugs may need serviced and that it may not be a bad idea to flush the coolant. I have an appt. to get an oil change on friday at 7am so if you could throw some ideas my way that would be great. If it can wait until 90k (such as the rear diff. fluid and tranny fluid) I would really like to wait. Any help would be much appreciated.

 

What does the OM say? Depending on how I use the car (a.k.a. mistreat), I may change all fluids or certain ones at 60K miles but usually I go longer but will eventually have all done by 90k-100k. I'd change the fuel filter depending on the last time that was done, and possibly the plugs if that's been at least 30k-40k miles.

60k is NOT a lot of miles for today's vehicles. After 100k, I also begin considering component replacements (water pump, theormostat, alternator, etc) depending on my gut feel from the forums and other failure history info.

I've got a 3 ring binder I keep this in along with receipts, warranty paperwork, etc for all of the mods and other stuff for the car.

 

That's actually a really good idea, though it's too late for me to start haha.

I'm just at 60k right now as well, curious to hear other's opinions. Though I imagine you can't go wrong with the operator's manual, I feel sometimes it pads the scheduled suggested maintenance. Call it paranoia.

 

The dealerships pad the maintenance by suggesting their own schedule - fuel injector cleaning, cabin air filter replacement, other profit-making services... I usually follow the owner's manual unless I hear of issues that may require more frequent maintenance.

 

Thanks for all the input so far guys. Based on what I've seen so far I think that 90k is where I am going to replace a lot of fluids, do the fuel injectors(or replace them when I go FI...just more incentive haha) and all that jazz. I'll probably just have them change the oil and get a fuel/cabin filter to replace myself later that day.

 

I do a transmission fluid change every 36,000 miles.

* Replace fuel filter
* Replace cabin air filter
* Replace engine air filter
* Perform multi-point inspection
* Inspect and lubricate all non-sealed steering linkage,ball joints,suspension joints,half and drive-shafts and u-joints
* Inspect brake pads/shoes/rotors/drums, brake lines and hoses, and parking brake system
* Inspect complete exhaust system and heat shields
* Inspect cooling system and hoses
* Change engine oil and replace oil filter (See Owners manual for time based oil change intervals)
* Rotate and inspect tires; check wheel end play and turning noise

Did all that about 10k miles ago! And I just hit 60k! Mainly because I've replaced a bunch of stuff lol.
