Default 2001 rims on an 05?

Will 2001 GT rims fit on the 05? I ask because i can get a set with newer tires for 350 bucks. And a buddy of mine has an 04 with the tires i want, but i cant get those tires because the 05+ had the slimmer rims....?

Yes they will fit but in the rear the offset is slightly different so they will poke out slightly.

i can deal with that i suppose, for 350 bucks especially lol.
I see you have a stage III clutch. How drivable is that for everyday driving? I have a stage II Ram clutch and its a little on the heavy side but manageable..

You will have to consider tire clearance to the sheetmetal more closely, particularly if you're lowered at all or have plans to do so. When wheels for the older car are mounted on an S197, they tend to stick out about an inch further than the S197 OE wheels.

Just how wide are your buddy's rims?

Best of my knowledge, the 2005 & up came with relatively WIDER wheels than the SN95 and NE.

At least you don't have stability control or EPAS, as those newer technologies could be somewhat more sensitive to wheel offset than just you as the driver in normal driving.

Well it would be different between a GT and V6 I would imagine... But mine is a Stage 3+ which is a non-puck clutch so its very driveable, a tad grabby but nothing that isn't manageable. Apparently the 3 and 3+ are night and day difference as far as driveability. Mainly because the Stage 3 is a puck clutch.

Unfortunately, ford put slimmer rims on the 05+ I guess to help save on costs and whatnot. The Stock 17 tires are narrower and whatnot. My suspension is stock and probably will be for a while. Main reason for wanting these rims is A. the price, And B. i want the tires my buddy has on his 04.

Wheels do have different offsets. They actually come right to the edge of fender, as if you had spacers on. Here is how they look on an '08 Bullitt. These are 17" FRPPs that came off an '03.

Doesn't look too bad IMO. I will have to be sure to keep a thought on rubbing if i decided to go wider.. I did have a thought to drop the car 1 1/2". How would that affect clearances and what not is something I'd like to know as well.

I personally like how the 98-04 offset looks on our cars, I almost went with that offset intentionally when I was wheel shopping.
