Do you know if the previous owner did a lot of stop and go city driving?

The owner's driving habits determine if low annual mileage will cause crud to accumulate. The key to preventing that from happening is to allow the engine to operate under a load for at least 15-20 minutes after reaching normal temperature during most trips.

That's irrelevant if the engine was run at normal temperature for at least 15-20 minutes during most of the trips.

Why throw your money away with changes at 1,000 miles -- or 2,500 or 3,000? Why do you want to toss out money that way? Saying "keep the government out of my engine" is fine, but you are simply spending YOUR money foolishly, as foolish as the federal and most state governments do.

It's a waste of your cash and unnecessary. Saying you feel a difference is simply your mind game trying to justify wasting money.

lmao at the people screaming about the government to "stay out of it".

all there doing is informing people with some good and useful information that they can then use to make an informed decision on.

if you wish to remain ignorant and change your oil every 1k miles because it makes you "feel better" do so. no ones stopping you. but for the rest of the population that might like to save some money and didn't know this.......its good info. there not mandating anything.

they are just informing the public with some useful information.

Well said!
Over at Bobistheoilguy.com they even talk about this kind of stuff saying that there is absolutely no possible way anyone can feel a difference in how the car runs when using more frequent changes or using a top of the line synthetic.

It's all marketing and snake oil and people fall for it all the time. They even have test results and mileage for oil used in Mustangs over there. People can't deny fact no matter how much they want to tell themselves otherwise.

I still wouldn't feel comfortable about buying a high grade full synthetic and excellent oil filter and changing the oil and filter every 3 years.

Mine's not a daily driver so I change the oil every six months using Mobile 1 and Motorcraft oil filter. My other vehicles I do a tire rotation and oil change every 5k.
