Last night I was driving home and my mustang started acting like it was choking. It stalled out and I couldn't get it started again. After letting it sit it started but died a few seconds later. The check engine light is on and the ETC (wrench light) as well.. I checked the air filter and fuel filter both are still in good shape. I started it this morning and it idled fine in the driveway but when I tried to drive down the street it started doing the above all over again. Any thoughts on what it could be and possible solutions?

Whens the last time you replaced your fuel filter? Just looking at it doesn't tell you if its ok or not, because they look the same at 5 miles and 100k miles from the outside. And is your MAF connected properly could be possibly dirty, and it wouldn't hurt to clean the throttle body as well for starters.

Check the connector for the MAF and clean the connector contacts. If it happened all of a sudden with no other prior symptoms, I doubt it's a dirty TB or fuel filter. My only wrench light was MAF related.

Are the 4.0's electronic throttles, check the throttle body cable, maybe the connector is loose. I would suggest also checking the fuel pump as they will fail suddenly but still function at low pressures. I had a FP go out the car would idle like rough and if I touched the gas it would DIE !!!

TPS may be on its way out (Throttle body sensor)
Very common on the GT's
If the Check engine light is still on, scan it. May say the TPS is out of range or something

The only wrench lite i evr had was caused by throttle body, check connections and get a code readout.
