Default How many miles have you put on your supercharged engine?

Im going to be buying a whipple about 6 months after i buy my 08 GT
(I would install it right away but i want to get used to the V8 power before i bolt on 200hp and kill myself!)

i was curious to see how many miles people are putting on their cars with blowers.

my mustang will be my daily driver so i want to be sure im making a good decision to supercharger it.

So how many miles do you have on your blower?
any problems to report?

You'll never last 6 months. Give in to the twin Screw. Erik

I've had mine for about a year and half, and about 15000 miles. Only real issue is belts, I shredded 2 (well really 3) and destroyed an idler pulley. The first belt lasted a year, second 6 months (third 3 seconds).
I will eventually go to an 8-rib serpentine belt system will billet idlers instead of the 6-rib w/stamped steel idlers.
I've already went with an aftermarket belt tensioner and an electric water pump... Electric water pump allows me to get to a convenient place without overheating if a belt is thrown.

Oh, and another gripe has to do with the power and torque... it's never enough.

get used to v8 power without killing yourself? Dude you have to be older than me, and I bolted a blower on my car without even having a years worth of driving experience and I'm still here lol. Just dont be stupid. Learn the car before going WOT as soon as you get up the block

+1. Just do it out of the gate. Have respect for the power, but don't fear it. You already have the right mindset because in a way, you're questioning even doing it. But if you don't do it, you will have a gap to fill until you do so just go for it dude!

190k I believe... Lol.

I have 61k now, 12k supercharged. You can't really compare 4.0 to 4.6 though since the 4.0 tends to withstand more boost stock then the 4.6

I have about 10k on mine. Like others have said the v8 is kind of a puppy dog. Its not all that impressive when u first get it. Id throw that FI on right away and like others have said dont be stupid. U can still drive a car with FI normal but it is fun to just blow the tires off at any given time

I have 191,300 on it right now - with the Xcharger on since 90,000 miles (and after running two race seasons with a 75 shot of nitrous). Engine still runs very strong
