Keep us updated on the pioneer install, I really hope the media buttons can be made functional. Such functionality would serve as a cost justification on such a costly piece. (for me it would anyways)

I installed the 2009 SVT steering wheel. This one does not have the audio buttons, but has a leather wheel. You can get them on ebay for about $300.00. You have to exchange the plugs from your old steering wheel to the new one, but it's easy if you can solder. I couldn't see buying a wheel with audio controls that cannot be used.

Will do. I'm also hoping the same, that's the reason I bought the steering wheel before installing the Pioneer unit. And I agree with you that it would justify spending those couple hundred bills.

The '07-'09 GT500 steering wheel is nice too, but it looks too plain in my opinion. It looks just like the stock steering wheel, but made out of leather. I got this one fully aware of the fact that I wouldn't be able to use the volume controls with the stock unit, but instead with the hope that it'll work with an aftermarket head unit. No one seems to have done it yet so I guess I'll be the test mule for this lol.

MASSIVE UPGRADE bro. I can't believe Ford would put a wheel that ****ty in any of their cars, really. I love that GT500 wheel, and I feel almost positive that you should be able to get the media controls to work as long as you get the right wiring harness from Pioneer. I don't see why it wouldn't work.. keep us updated, should be sick!

Thanks! It really is a massive upgrade, and I agree, the stock steering wheel is hideous. And I really do hope the media controls work with the new head unit, I feel very positive that it will. I will keep you guys updated. If Metra doesn't release any info about their new dash kit by the 15th, I'll just go with the current model.

It may depend on what year model it is. It is really easy on '05-Present Mustangs, it really does take just about 10 minutes. Go to the '05-'09 Mustang section, there is a sticky on there that shows you how to do it. That sticky shows it on a '05-'09 Mustang, but the steering wheel is set up the same for the 2010+ Mustangs. That's what I used as instructions.

There's a video of it on YouTube.
So I wouldn't be able to use a grant steering wheel because I have an '07? and I only have cruise control buttons on my steering wheel. So therefore only the cruise control buttons would work. I'd be fine with that, would it still work that way? Thanks
