Built vs Bought: Opinions
It's time for me to come to a decision about my car before I start to drop any serious money into it. Next month my car will be paid off (awesome!) so I have a few options. I can sell it and get a loaded V6 or base 5.0 or I can keep my car and build it into something that no one else has. I added it up and it looks like I'll be dropping $20k+ into my Mustang in the next few years. If it were yours what would you do? Buy a car built pretty much how you want it or build a car to make it exactly how you want it.
Here are my options:
1. Keep my car - Build it
2. 2011 Base 5.0
3. MCA 2011 V6
I understand I am only going to get opinions, but I'm curious as to what some of you would do in my shoes.

I would get the v6 peformance package fully loaded and then throw a CAI/tune right after..now you will have a warranty and a fully loaded car, plus the power, not 5.0 power but pretty damn good..I went from the 4.0 to the 3.7 and it's Hella different esp with the 6speed..O yeah.

Hell with the new V6 if you have the options of a 5.4 V8 or the 5.0 GT. Personally I would rather have built up my own car to my own specs, so I would go with the 4v 5.4 V8 and a 6spd. Also there is the issue of body styles. Personally I prefer the 05-09 look, and I would never be satisfied with the new bodystyle.

I think this kind of question you just need to take some extra time to really think about, since its only something you can answer. Some people love knowing they've built up their cars into a one of a kind, and some love buying a really nice car off the lot and calling it a day after that.
Probably the MCA 2011 IMO. I'd say its probably the best financial move out of the three, and by doing that you'll end up with a sweet car with 100 more ponies than you have currently.

MustangFirst, My husband has gotten into wanting to build it now.
He is wanting a crate Coyote and the TR6060 (or MT82 trying to talk him out of that).
So basically a full 5.0 drive train swapped into my car. I know its going to be a huge PITA to get every thing done.
I wouldn't consider the 3.7 besides the shaker system and my color. I want to find a Performance Package to test drive, but supplies of those seem to be drying up.
Thanks everyone for replying.
Pdonket, It will defiantly take some time to decide. Its just be rolling around in my mind for the last month or so and I figured I'd get some outside opinions.

I would go with the 5.0, finish paying it off, and then build that up. Or if you've gotten so attached to your car, go for the engine swap! I'm thinking of selling mine when I finish paying it off and get a 5.0.
