Default No rust lug nuts?

It seems like all lug nuts turn rusty, especially in my area with the road salt and everything. Even the black lugs seem to rust through. Does anyone on here have forged aluminum lugs?

Fort Myers uses road salt? It hasn't snowed there since 1993.

in a related note does anyone know of a place that sales lugnuts that have a hex on the end?

on my front wheels the space between the nuts and the rim is small so a thin wall socket has to be used and carefully or it'll scrape the rim, so I'm wondering if theres a place that has some with an allen key style design.

You could probably find some sort of female lug nuts. Instead of putting a socket OVER the lug nut, it would go inside the lug nut and minimize scrapping. I think VW's especially have this style

You could also look into silicone coated thin-wall sockets, and just be extra careful.

+1. You can't beat McGard. I've been running their shank style lugs for a long time.

AM sells some Gorrilla Nuts that have a female hex. But after 2 years they do start rusting inside the hex part.

Aluminum is too weak (low yield and ultimate strength) Most lug nuts are made from steel, which is coated. Unfortunately when you install them, this action may break through the coating, and allow rust to form. The Mcgard lugs and wheel locks are better than the factory lug nuts, but, yes, you need to use the thin walled sockets, also available from Mcgard.

Do you by chance know where I could get some female lugnuts?
