Default Exhaust removal help!!!!

Well I was all pumped today after getting my over the axle pipes with the resonators deleted, but my day went completely down hill. Bought a nice 4ton jack to find out it was a complete piece of junk, and I got the car jacked up all the way this POS jack would let, and I couldnt get the over the axle pipes out. Also called my local performance shop (cant stand them) and they told me $250 to swap out the pipes lmfaooo, I asked if new over the axle pipes came with it.

Any tips for getting the over the axle pipes out, or is a lift needed? I have jack stands and will be getting a new jack tomorrow. If not JDM said they could get me in sometime next week, but I would rather not have to pay for labor if I can do it without a lift.

Yours is a common complaint. It often takes a lot of wiggling and pulling after removing the clamps.

Tired a ton of that, but it just wasnt happening =[. I am gonna exchange the jack tomorrow morning since this one wasnt working properely and hopefully I will be able to get the car up high enough to wiggle them out. Nothing would bother me more than paying a mechanic $100 to get theses pipes out just cause I cant get the car high enough

100 bucks?

Go to an oil change place with a lift,
they charge like 50 bucks for an hour labor...sounds like they could do yours in 20 minutes.

Doubtful a jack will get the car high enough. You need some serious jackstands and maybe you will get lucky. I would try the oil change place. Ask them if you can come in when they are slow and have cash in hand.

Im not gonna lie I really dont want one of those oil change places touching my car. Idc if they are just moving it in and out of the garage, I dont like other people moving my car. I called Jim at JDM and they said they could do it for me sometime next week and they work on mustangs for a living. Sure JDM's hour labor is I think $100 (same as ford labor rate) but I would rather them than some random oil change junkie.

I am going to return this POS jack tomorrow and order a nice jack and set of stands off harbor freight. A friend of mine had his exhaust installed on his g37 by a local custom auto shop that works on lambo's and stuff, so I may try them. He said they charged him $80 to install a full catback and foreign cars are usually harder to work on.

I was able to get the driver side out by raising it with a jack and using medium size jack stands. Let the axle hang all the way down, support the car by the frame on the stands (chock the front wheels of course and be certain the car cant roll, you cant count on parking brake or being in gear).
The driver side, I was able to swing the front of the pipe more over to the passenger side, tilted it just right and it came out.

Passenger side was far worse: ended up disconnecting the driveshaft at the pinion, and that gave me plenty of room to get the pipe out.

You might also be able to disconnect the shocks, one side at a time, and slide them out the side over the axles (wheel off of course). Watch out for brake/abs cables; may need to remove the brake pads and caliper to get the pipe off that way, over the axle, if the lines are in the way.

And +1 for not trusting any idiots to touch your car and not wanting to pay a bunch of $ just for lifting the car up.

Trust me these new 2011+ style pipes are farrrrrr worse than the 05-10 so you had it easy lol. Working on my 2010 exhaust was much easier. No idea why ford did this but there are so many more kinks and bends in the 5.0 exhaust which makes it even harder to get out.

A few people were telling me to just unbolt one of the braces (forgot which 1, but its the one in the way lol) and it makes it much easier. A few others suggested just unbolting the shocks this way its drops the rear and a little more and they slide right out. ITs so frustrating, cause its like a littleeeeeeeeeeeee bit more and they'll pop right out =/
