Why did Shelby install narrow tires on the 2012 super snake?
Why did Shelby install narrow tire's on the super snake then the gt 500 with the SVT package?
they install 255 /20" in the front that's because they got bigger wheels (20”) instead of 265 19” on the GT 500 SVT and in the rear they install 275 20",
that will look good 20" all around but the car will lose grip so with 700-800 hp why do that?
I have on my 2012 GT 500 with the SVT package 568 hp at the wheels and 692 hp on the cranck i thinking of replacing the 20" in the back (285) to 19" 315 for better grip what do you think?

255mm wide tires are good for wheel size from 8"-10", which means there won't be a problem as long as the tires are mounted and balanced perfectly. As for the back, 275mm tires are great for wheel sizes from 9"-10". You will need some 10.5" - 11 wheels for your 315 tires if you are srs about the "grip" you want.

And as most other sport car, the Super Snake is still a street vehicle. You won't be using those 20s for srs racing and (maybe)not going 200mph on the road.

This, i think wider may actually take away from performance, because they are heavier, and the tire rubber compound is what the grip is mostly from - width matters less. 315's with hard rubber will provide less grip than 225 slicks or DR's. Theres also more weight per surface area of the tire touching the ground.
