Default Meth inject.

Anyone using meth injection on a naturally aspirated engine?

I've been checking out Snow Performance's stage 2 Boost Cooler for NA engines and was wondering if anyone could share their experience with it.

Also, I have a Boos 302 with a trackey tune....would I have to re-tune if I installed the meth kit?

Thanks for any assistance you guys can provide.

Meth is typically used on boosted cars to tame the high IAT from the process of compressing the air.

What are you hoping to accomplish with a meth kit on a N/A engine? On a forced induction system the meth kits are usually plumbed so that they don't start to flow until you reach a pre-determined level of boost where you need the extra cooling.

I was hoping for some moderate power gains without switching to FI, or messing with my trackey tune.

I understand that meth injection is primarily for boosted motors, but was surprised to see snow perf. advertising a system for NA motors. So in that vein was curious if there was a true gain in power, or if it was just to get better fuel mileage.
My suspicion is that it would only really be worth it if I lived someplace really hot (Texas, or arizona).

Same here. They just did a segment on Horsepower TV where they installed a Snow kit on a NA motor and an FI. If I remember right, it was about 30hp on the NA motor.

It will effectively turn your - say - 93 octane into something of a higher grade by enriching the mixture. But, like other guys are saying, it's really only helping us boosted peoples by being a safety net/security blanket; by keeping air intake temps down. And then you're REALLY only seeing significant HP increases by tuning for it.

Indeed!

Now what was this thread about? Oh yeah. As noted, methanol n/a could be used to effectively boost the octane level and power and torque, but only if tuned for it. Air/fuel mixtures get altered, timing can be jacked up, etc.
