Default Dash Cams

I've been seriously thinking about getting one of these recently, especially after seeing this video. This is exactly why I could see happening to me, there are some sketchy people on planet Earth and they always seem to find me. Plus, people like to **** with my car and flip the windshield wipers up and leave them, put cigarettes out on it, etc. I'd like to catch them.

How many of you guys run dash cams?

I'm looking for something that can provide decent quality while being basically a fire and forget type thing. I don't want to have to hook it up every time I go on a five minute drive, I want it to stay charged and be there when I need it.

Any ideas?

I might get one too. People in my town are crazy.

Today I saw somebody take the front quarter of a jeep off without hardly doing any damage to their sedan.

How does it work? Does it start with the car or is it recording 24/7?

I bet you have to turn it on yourself, but you could wire it so it goes off and on automatically like my subwoofer amps do

Another wonderful benefit to living in the People's Republic of Chicago.... If I use one I can be arrested under eavesdropping laws. Damn, I hate this state.
