Default catch can's

Ok im debating pulling the trigger on a $100.00 aluminum can for my engine on the theory that it keeps oil out of my intake.. Now all the old guys I run with say i'm wasting my money and its voodoo, but I see the pictures of the oil caught in them, and what I think sold me is the ford pictures of the 2013 Na cobra jet, has one!! Its true passenger side up against the firewall... What do you guys think? Get one or not?

Have you seen Steeda's? (BTW, we have billet ones for '05-'10 as well)

Let me know if you'd like to get one.

My '97 Cobra desperately needs an oil separator. The inside of my intake was coated in oil when I purchased the car last summer due to not having a separator. The 4.6 4-valve engine is one that should have had one from the factory.

I have the JLT and it's performance is not spectacular.

The Steeda unit has a much better (finer) filter element and a larger capacity, so I will be changing to that this spring. I expect it to catch a lot more oil than the JLT.

I have a 4.0 V6 with an eBay AMP catch can and it collects a spoon full of oil every ~400 miles - works great. Mine has to be mounted on the passenger side. It may be different for the 4.6 V8.

U can use a breather. I have a catch can on the driver side and a breather on the passenger. It works well and oil does not just go everywhere. I do clean my engine bay about once a month. So if your looking to completely get rid of it breathers would be what u need

I made my own. I Think it cost me about $22. It doesnt look as nice as the billets, but it matches my cai, and gets the job done. I may make something with steel braided lines to make it look nicer eventually. I would recommend one, you can see in my picture the bit of oil in the catch can, and i had only driven it a couple times after the install.
