Default Daily Driver Questions?

I'm still trying to figure out whether i should get a V6 or V8 mustang. I am set on getting a manual transmission. I am getting the car for a primary driver in Ohio. I will be driving mostly on the highway; long trips occasionally and every day short trips through the city (on the highway) in traffic. Any suggestions. Is a GT okay for a daily driver? How about a turbocharged V6? I am not very impressed with the acceleration of a V6 while already driving 30 or 40mph, i would want to do some mods. Sorry for the rambling, any thoughts appreciated

Either are fine. For long trips I would pick the V6 any day for the gas mileage. Just depends on what you want out of the car you are going to get.

5.0 and don't look back. I've had a gt as a DD driver for the last 5yrs. Gas miles are above 20 mixed highway and city driving and in Nashville traffic on a daily basis. Get the gt and don't look back. Power when and were ever u want it. Esp with the manual.

I'd go with the GT; I use one as my daily driver. I average over 20mpg combined city/highway. I have a manual also.

In steady state highway driving with the proper gearing and/or NOT cruising at too high an RPM, the GT is within 1-2 MPG of the V6. Considering the wood the GT elicites compared to the V6, I'd say that's well worth going with the GT.

One thing hardly ever mentioned about the 5.0 is its passing power. Yeah 4.x seconds to 60 is impressive, but it'll also do 4.x seconds 55 to 110. The V6 is good, but it can't touch the V8 in passing power.

drive both, that will help you figure it out real quick. I don't really understand why someone would want to buy the v6 and boost it immediately, when they could have gotten the v8 from the get go. boosting a v6 is more for someone who bought the v6 originally and later wants more power to me.

if mpg's are super critical to you, you'll get a handful more in the v6. if you boost it and have a heavy foot, that will not be the case.

The real decision would be GT or Focus

Well the reason i looked at boosting the v6 right away rather than getting a GT is because a 2010 GT with 315 horses is the same cost as a new 2012 v6 with 305 horses. So i could get a v6 and boost it to get more horses than a 2010 GT for less than $25k (and less than the cost of a 5.0)

I asked these questions when I got my Mustang. Just get the GT because if you don't you will wish that you did. The new v6s are pretty cool and everything, but if you have to ask - get the GT. You'll like it a lot better. The mpgs are going to be different with the smaller engine, but the GT is not bad. I have a 2007 GT with a manual tranny and I average between 22-24 with city driving and highway.

The best way to decide would be to drive them both. Make sure you drive the v6 first. You'll notice the difference as soon as start that GT
