Default New car?

As some of you know A week or so ago my brother wrecked and totaled his vette....we just found out today that it is totaled so they wanted 10 grand to buy it back and we told them no so they paid off the loan and my brother has a check for 14k.

My question to all of you would be what would be the best car for 14k? He wants to get another car with the money he made off the vette and not have a payment anymore. I am not sure if you could find a cobra or something for a little over 16k or so.

Is 14k the ceiling? I mean, you might be able to find an '05 GT with decent mileage for that kind of price...

But to go from a 'Vette down to a GT.... man... talk about handling and power decrease.
Maybe a New Edge with money left over for mods? Or even a late model GTO?

He can go get another corvette if he really wants to, but is not sure. He told me he would rather not have a car payment and use the 14k that is purely profit from the car. He is just exploring options right now and wanted me to see what ya'll think. 14k isn't the limit but some options other then a corvette for around 16-20k

I assume he wants another fun car? I made this list when I thought 14k was the cap.

I'd put together a big list and go test drive a bunch: GTO, 350z/300zx, evo 8/9, WRX/sti, s2k are cars that come to mind that are good value at that price range.

Depends on what he likes. Entaille put up a really good list for people who don't have a bais. He could always find a pretty well maintained fbody for less and do a couple mods. To add to what MadStang40 said, going from a car with the power of a vette (or any mildly modded LS car for that matter) down to a stock GT isn't fun. < This is something I am familiar with .
