I recently purchased a 2011 convertible, love the car but need some help. Has anyone found a part number or accessory to add a glove box lock? Seems odd to me not to have it lock, especially in a convertible.

Also, the trunk, I've had no luck with dealers to disengage the trunk button which works all the time. Again making the trunk not so secure. It doesn't have a key access on the deck lid, which would be one option to make it secure.

Any thoughts? I've owned several convertibles and never had either of these lock not be there.

 

The armrest storage has a lock.

Just had a thought. Did you get the added security system with the motion detectors? As far as added locks never heard of anything.

 

yeah if the car has those motion sensing dohickeys in the map light thingy, anyone that tries to stick their hands in the car will set the alarm off. I have a vert but nothing in mine locks, but I also don't leave the top down when I step away from the car.

 

I don't think it has the motion detectors, it was used. The 09 and back all have locks as do other Ford convertibles.

glove box lock - got it (don't recall ever using it though)
motion sensors at mirror - got it

guess i found yet another reason why i don't like 2010+ mustangs anymore.

on the other hand, its extremely rare for me to leave the top open when i'm away from the car.

 

I just discovered the lock on my glovebox.

 

Got the Glovebox lock as well as the spot for the key to open the trunk.

Funny story... My wife takes my car to the cabin... locks the keys in the trunk of the car... Not so funny, I'm away on a trip at the time.

Had to call the dealer to get a lock code, then we called a locksmith who cut a key... well, a large phone bill later as well as a locksmith charge... You get the picture.

However! A good friend of mine told me about a "Reed" switch. This type of switch is activated when you place a magnet over it. We talked about placing a Reed switch on the car somewhere to work as the trunk release in cases like this. Haven't done it yet but if I do, I will sure to post instructions and photos.

 

you can also buy a wireless keyless entry keypad and stick it to the inside of your gas door. you'll never get locked out again.

 

The trunk button DOES NOT work when the top is down and the car is locked. It's disabled. Also there is a key release for the trunk. It's hidden in the rear seat. See pages 91 and 106 in the owners manual.
