Manual or automatic?

Manual or automatic?
For the 2013 GT, should I get manual or automatic? The only reason I consider the automatic is I think it comes with paddle shifter (SelectShift) that one can shift gears just like a manual and probably faster.
I'd like that my wife can drive the car too but it would take the act of the Congress to make her learn how to drive a manual.

The paddle shifter option would make the automatic more sporty to drive for sure. But it is not an automated manual, it is the same auto transmission from previous years as it has the same old torque converter setup.
If you want the wife to drive it, then this is probably your best option...

Not sure if the 2013's have paddle shifters, I dont think so, not yet at least.
There's pro's and con's between the two transmissions. Manual trans means only you can enjoy your car and its way more fun to drive.
Automatic means you have to share your 5.0
So with that in mind I think its a no brainer, go for the manual and tell her its cheaper and better on gas mileage.

The 2013 GT's have superb manual transmissions. I have had thoughts of buying one myself, if I did... manual period. My wife would learn or not drive it, not being mean. Good thing mine knew how to drive a manual when we met.

Glad to see you're going with the mustang?
I have an auto but it wasn't my choice, if i could have chose, i would have chosen a manual, in the end it's your choice. You'll be happy with either, just get the one that will be more convenient for you

I got a manual transmission in my 08 gt because it was cheaper, I didn't like the look of the automatic shifted and didn't want to spring for the ratchet shifter, I don't competitively drag race, and i guess I also like rowing my own gears. The wife knows how to drive it but prefers not to.
I also don't feel comfortable with the manumatic type transmissions with the lack of experience I have with them. It feels funny to me shifting without a clutch. If it is what I had I'm sure it wouldn't take long to get used to it. My wife has it in her Mazda and when i drive it I leave it in D.
In the end it should come down to what you are comfortable with and if the wife won't hold a grudge for buying a manual.

I found my 06 Gt used for a great price and low miles and it had an auto so rather than pass up the oppurtunity and look for a manual I went with it. With my Bama tune it really firmed up the shifts so now it's quicker shifting than I could do in a manual. If I had a choice between an identical car with a manual or auto I wouldve definitly gone with the manual. However, I have no regrets with my decision to go with the car.
