I disagree with having the car retuned to stock. It's already running fine so why pay the 80 or 100 bucks just to have to tune it immediately? Given the car is far out of warranty it doesnt make sense because you dont know the other upgrades that have been done to the car either.

Just looking at the pic, it looks like your ride is level which if if it is...it's probably got suspension mods like lowering springs, etc....and a car that has suspension mods might have gears too. There's a way to suspend the rear of the car, turn the drive shaft and count the ratio of axle rotations to wheel rotations and figure out what gears are in it without cracking the pumpkin... You might want to know that before you get your tuner ordered up.

http://www.ehow.com/how_7280367_figu...truck.html...I don't know how accurate the first method is, but it'll get you in the ballpark and if you post what you think the number is, we can probably help you get it narrowed to the one or two possibilities. Typically you'll find from 3.31 to 4.10's.

It looks like you got a pretty sweet ride. Congrats!

I agree with not going back to stock. If I use a tuner, the tuner itself should save whatever settings the car has now. Therefore, if my car is tuned and I missed something, I can go back to what I have today. Car is out of warranty, and hey, why bother with stock anyway.

Ok, I'm thinking stock gears. Pulling right at 2000 rpms at 65mph. Jacked up the car as directed. Drive shaft turns about 3 1/2 turns per one turn of the tire. There's a sticker on the housing still that says 3.55.
Thanks for the pointers and the congrats. Since you are in Colorado, know of any good Mustang shops?

So if anyone is following this thread. Installed an SCT X3 from Bama Tunes today. Seems to have dropped the idle a bit. Acceleration seems about the same. Ran a sort of marked 1/4 mile. Pre Bama Tune = 104 mph Post Bama Tune = 106 mph. So didn't make a whole lot of difference, but did have some effect.

Had an idea this evening, tell me what you think. How about getting a plenum cover and painting it white with blue stripes to match the car? Have to find some high temp paint, but other than that, seems like it might be cool.

Thanks Mongoose. Would be cool when someone asks what I have under the hood. To open up and have the stripes continue.
