I've been running w/ out mufflers for the last 2 weeks and it's great. There is a little rattling from the axle pipes on bumps and when cold though. I've talked to a friend at a shop that welds and he's going to cut just the cans off and straight-pipe the stock pipes for $50.

It can only hurt the car when people on the street throw things at you since straight pipes have been known to sound very obnoxious.

You kids and your stupid ideas. When you get older, you'll appreciate the sound of a well engineered exhaust system.

And for now, I enjoy being able to drown out my girlfriend's nagging with the drone.

Doesn't a N/A engine need a certain amount of back pressure to operate at peek efficiency? I suspect if you were just running some pipe to the back without the mufflers, it would probably be fine. However, if you removed the muffler and did not have some sort of dump pipe funneling the HOT exhaust down and away from the car, you might well melt or burn something. Someone who know more than me might know.
