Default Weird Electrical Issue

Today, I put my key in, turned it, heard a pop, and the entire car was dead.

No electronics whatsoever. I thought maybe a battery wire had come loose, so I popped the hood, jiggled the sub woofer power wire, and everything came right back to life. All the electronics had reset, but it was all normal.

I drove it around for an hour and had no issue whatsoever.

Any ideas?

Still have the stock battery? Is it low on juice?

Usually wonky electronics are a sign of the crap OEM battery dying. When mine was starting to go out, my stereo would randomly shut off and not come back on until I parked the car and restarted it. Or the doors would randomly initiate the locking mechanism (even if they were already in the lock position) when I was driving/sitting there.

So check your battery first and foremost.

Make sure your cables are tight, if you wiggled a wire and it "fixed" it then you should obviously track down the loose connection.

Loose connection or bad battery. The battery post could be bad.

Because the Miata is a fun little car for driving through the hills and mountains.
