Default I just had to do it.....

I know it might be hard for some of you still waiting out there to believe, but for a few weeks in late August my 5 month old '06 GT order wasnt constantly on my mind. So when it did re-enter my train of thought I had a really good feeling that the next time I called that familair voice of the robot lady it would have received a VIN #. Unfortunatly as many of you know all too well it was still C/U. So I went to my dealership to see if they could shed some light on the situation and give me an idea as to how much longer the wait might go on. He informed me a VIN# in a month, the car another month after that, maybe?

And that was it. It was very hard for me to keep staying excited for a date that was originally supposed to come in late August and now might not come until late November, and thats still not for sure.

So I put it in my head that the first '06 GT that I see over the internet, that is in and around what I ordered, and with-in reasonable driving distance, I would jump on it.

The funny thing is that I didnt expect to find it in less than one week.

The Friday before Labor Day weekend I pulled the trigger on a beautiful '06 Black GT coupe w/leather interior, IUP, and shaker 500 for just under MSRP. It had more features than my original order and the only diference was that it was black instead of Tungsten, and I think I like the black just as much! I found it in Chattanooga, Tennesse, and I have to say it was the quickest (mentally) 800 mile drive home that ever done!

I absolutely love the car and I now can say first hand that I know what everyone on this site has been raving about.

So I just wanted to officially annouce that I have moved over into the realm of proud mustang owners. I wanted to thank everyone on this site who have helped me with all my questions along the way. (you know who you are there will be more to come)

I kow this thread is pretty much worthless without some pics, so I will post them as soon as I get a chance. - Mike

when i'm cruising back roads, i often pull over to the side to build a gap b/t me and slower traffic in front when it's not possible to pass . . thought i was a little nutty. glad to hear there are others who do the same

You guys are nuts! lol.

Prof. - I just love your car. If you dont mind me asking where did you pick up your grilles?

Right now I'm still getting used to how the car handles, having diven two virtually identical Toyota Tacomas for the past 10 years. This thing rides just a little different. lol. But be sure I'll have some crazy fun with it before the weather gets bad.

Good Luck with your new ride ... BTW how was the ride back from Tennesse ?... Just curious cause I'm planning a similar road trip myself ... Once again , enjoy that Pony ...

Thanks Hidalgo!

Yours looks Great, My orginal color choice!

It looks like thats the only way anyone in our area can realisticly get there hands on this car.

The ride was great. I was coming from NJ and going back and the majority of my trip was spent on 81 South & North. I started out on 78 west to 81 Sotuh.

Its a 2 lane highway for most of the trip through the back part of Virginia, but its not very crowded. It will lead you right into Knoxville. I wish I had a little more time, there's a parallel road by Roanoke that cuts through what I can only image is a very scenic & windey route through the Shenandoah National Park. Would of loved to taken the car through that! lol. Good luck on your trip

I'm amazed that more people don't get on the Web, find a Mustang and then go get it (within reasonable limits). My drive home from the dealership is about 4 miles, but somehow I got lost and it ended up being more like 50.
