Getting ready to purchase 5.0
Hi everyone. I am a new member to the forum from San Antonio, TX. As the title reads im getting ready to purchase a new GT. For the longest time i've had it in my head that i was going to purchase a 2006 ls2 GTO, but after thinking it over and discovering all the possibilities there are with the new coyote motor in the 5.0 i just can't justify paying $20,000+ for a nice GTO without a warranty. And everything in the vehicle being 6 years old at that.
I created this thread just to get a little input from everyone. Im hoping to purchase a 2013, but am not apposed to a new 2012. I would like to have the brembo package, and a shaker system. All the vehicles i've ever had i've played with and modded and toyed with, aftermarket systems, aftermarket mods.... im just looking for a nice vehicle to keep pretty stock.
So what year did you purchase? What options did you get and why? For those who have brembo how do you enjoy it, for those who don't how are basic brakes? How is the basic stereo compared to shaker 500? i am not looking for an insane system, just a little thump. I just sold my 12" l7's im not looking for anything like that lol.
Sorry this is a novel, i was just posting to see what options everyone had and if you wouldnt mind including what you paid. I have found 2013's with brembo and base everything else in the $29k area which isn't too bad i don't think. If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay?
Any and all input is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

I've ordered a 2013 GT Premium. The three features that that pushed me into the '13 are the Select Shift Automatic, the Shelby style front grill and the Track Apps. I believe my x-plan price is $36,000. I also got the Brembo's and the back up camera. I guess if I were getting a manual transmission, then a heavily rebated 2012 makes more sense.

-purchased year? 2012. I saw a GT500 parked next to a 2012 GT CS so I got to see the front ends side by side prior to making the decision in regards to 12 vs 13.. I like the 12 more, it just looks a little more aggressive and mean!
-options? premium model for the same reasons you mentioned. I wanted the shaker 500 and leather. it sounds excellent, as a guy who always had audio setups in his car too .. I am not tampering with this one! it works well. I also selected the 3.73 rear gears as it really transforms the car and makes it much more lively.. and the brembo brakes, for some light track duty use. I probably goto 1 to 2 motorsport events a year and I do some pretty aggressive driving from time to time so I wanted the brakes. I was disappointed to find out that they are front-only, as the rears are floating calipers to accommodate the live axle. I also got some fluff-nogive a **** options like rear backup sensors and security package, comfort and convenience package was the only white one in the area configured the way I wanted it otherwise, so oh well, I took it.
-what did I pay? ah man, I honestly don't remember. I got them to offer it to me at whatever invoice was - pretty easy to look up. there was also a 1500$ rebate on 2012s at the time. two weeks later, the rebate was 3000$. fml!

If you are seriously considering a 2012, then you need to get off your bumm and go get one... the dealer inventories of NEW 2012's is dwindling fast... Now taking into consideration you want the Brembro package and I think you're going to have an even harder time...
Good luck though.

2012 GT premium, 3.31 rear, no sat nav, no brembos, no rear spoiler etc. We got it for $30k flat. Pretty much plain jane except for the shaker 500 and interior lighting stuff. The stock brakes are pretty good, i'd give them a B minus. The real story with the brembo package (to me) are the slightly wider 255 Pirellis they are wrapped in. The only downside I see to the brembo package is the rotors. As far as I can tell, they aren't properly vented. They look to be the same rotors we have, unless I completely missed something.

Not the same rotors.. not on the front anyway. And yes the stock Pirellis are awesome tires. $356 a pop to replace them though, ouch. If it helps you OP i picked mine up in march for 31.5k after rebates with 0% financing. Good luck finding a Brembo 2012 now though, i had a hard time finding one then, and that was 3 months ago.

Good call, i'd much rather have a 5.0 than GTO cause apparently it's hard to find parts and body parts for them. I drove a couple 5.7's, couldn't imagine what a 6.0 with mods would be like. I saw a super clean blue 6.0, bone stock, 50k miles, for $18k, 8 months ago.
A mustang 5.0 would rock one though with weight difference and has more power

Yea I once thought it would be cool to have a gto but when I saw it in person it looked so umm........ Feminine
That's the only reason y I wouldn't own one but I didn't know the aftermarket demand for them was so minimal.
Plus I hear the challengers r a PIA to write tunes for
