Overheating with full coolant?

Exclamation Overheating with full coolant?

Just as it says, 05 ford Mustang v6 is overheating and the coolant is full. I don't have any engine mods or anything and have never had issues with overheating in the past. Anybody have any idea what the problem could be?

Hmm, don't know what else it could be, may want to check it.
Is the fan coming on when engine is hot?

Ok I'm sitting in my car now and it's been off for a while. The tempature gauge is halfway up or so while the car is off. I think my gauge is acting up and the engine is actually fine

That could be, see if it smells hot under the hood, and make sure the fan is turning on.

My gas gauge acts up once in a while, it doesn't change after I put gas in, then it all of a sudden starts to work.

Everything feels and smells the same. And I heard the fan kick on as I drove back to work from my lunch break. So I'm guessing the gauge is acting ul

So long as the coolant in the resevoir looks good, ie not contaminated(head gasket leak). Then the most likely explanation has already been given, the gauge. In this case, since it's an 05-06, the stepper motor specifically. Others (if they haven't already), will likely follow suit in short order.

Search for stepper motor replacement here. Pretty cheap and easy to do with a bit of soldering experience.

If it keeps acting up I would check the thermostat housing, it's a common problem.

Get an aeroforce interceptor gauge and take the guess work out of it, it will display cylinder head temps, at least on the gt.
