steeda UDP's
hey guys I just bought some steeda udp's from brenspeed today, should be getting them later on in the week. how hard is the installation on udp's? miles from brenspeed said i don't need to adjust the tune at all for them so i was happy to hear that. what all do i need to watch out for when installing them too? any help would be greatly appreciated
You'll need a Chrysler pulley puller for the balancer. I "rented" one from Autozone. (Buy it, then return it. They have it set up to do that) You'll have to remove the fan & shroud. No biggee. Overall, it's a pretty easy job.
It's been years since I did mine, and I didn't have to remove the fan/shroud which made it really simple and easy... you need the pulley remover as mentioned and a long breaker bar came in handy. There are a few guides on the internet so just pick and choose what you want to do. Do the obvious things like check the fan belt to make sure it's in good condition.

I just did them on mine too. All I moved was the coolant reservoir in the front. It was a piece of cake. Takes a little muscle to break the crank bolt loose, that's about the toughest. Be sure to say "Chrysler" puller when you rent it.
It frees up hp by reducing "parasitic drag". Crank pulley is smaller & the water pump one is larger, so you turn the pump & alternator slower. I didn't notice any difference, but a few hp here & a few there all add up.
