Default Detailing Leather Seats

Hey guys, i was going to be doing my first detail on my new seats part of the 402a option in my car. I've never had leather before but would really like to take care of these seats. I bought some mother's leather conditioner from pep boys to try out i was just curious if i need to avoid applying this around the stitching of the seats? I do not want to tamper with it and have it come loose in any way. Just wondering how you guys detail your seats and maybe if someone could give me some tips. Sure appreciate it!

If you say so. but i dont think so in one bit. They are nice, but why buy them instead of Chemical guys who makes their products they just relabel and sell for a little more.

I've never fully cleaned my leather seats and they are still fine at 50k and 7 years old. Back seat is mint. I just brush the dirt off occasionally, lol.

I've been contemplating removing them from the car, giving them a proper cleaning, and getting the carpet at the same time. Maybe this Sunday...

LOL...It's funny you should bring that up considering that rumor was put to rest years ago. But having used each product, I can tell you they are not the same. But, if you say so...

Why dont you look into Warner chemicals. It seems they make all the products for CG and Adams and just relabeled. Adams is what i would call above OTC products but not even close to the same league as Ultima

You really can't win. If you don't clean/condition the areas right around the stitching, they will tend to wear and crack just like an other untreated area. If you do, the stitching will tend to soak up the chemicals and discolor or leave "tracks" on your pants.

To Baddog - your results of course may vary. I'm sure lots of people have seats that look fine without any extra care. But I would hazard a guess the environment takes it's toll. Avg temp in MD is probably lower than in TX, and it's the sun and high temps that tend to weather the leather.

Agreed, it probably varies alot person by person. My back seat gets no use, and my passenger seat little use, so they are still fine. Also, I've had 17% tint all around since I got it, and it had tint prior, so sun damage has been minimalized.

I used to live in Southern Florida and damn, everything was sun baked to death!

I'm game. I just bought a fresh bottle of leather cleaner/conditioner recently (getting ready for the AM show) but when that's out I'll look at Warner/Ultima. I'm always looking for a better product. In all honestly, you can't go wrong with most of these products. As long as you're maintaining your vehicle that's all that counts
