Default Help! Oil everywhere.

So, the other day I topped off my oil level with a quart of Royal Purple, was distracted by something else for a few minutes, came back and closed the hood without putting the oil cap back in place.

It took me two days to realize my oversight and now I have oil everywhere on the passenger side of my engine bay. High, low, and everywhere in between.

I don't even know where to start to clean this mess up. Do I need a steam cleaner, engine detail, professional help? Help me out here guys.

Yes, I am an idiot.

I would do the car wash first, after wiping off as much as I could. I found dawn dish soap or a product called Awesome (at the dollar store) will cut the oil the best. Use your own soap at the car wash......

In the old days we would wash the engine bay down with kerosene to cut the oil. I suspect there's some expensive spray-on/hose-off crap that you can use today.

I would wipe it up with rags and call it good. Spraying the motor with water is never a good idea. At least you know you have good oil pressure.

Do you have any pictures of this mess? I'm wondering just how absolutely terrible it's looking in there haha.
