Ok, i have an 06 pony pkg car, the trunk has a big set of speakers in it. I have seen other mustangs with the shaker sound sys, but the trunk was clean, no speakers. Whats the diff. did they hide the speakers in later models?

 

If its a Shaker 1000, there will be dual subs in a single enclosure on the passenger side of the trunk.

 

So no speakers in trunk means it's not a shaker 1000? Are there different shaker systems?

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is shaker 500 system as well.

 

The Shaker 1000 has 2 10" subs in the trunk, 2 door mounted 8" shallow subs, and 4 speakers.

The Shaker 500 has no trunk subs, I believe has the door subs, and of course the 4 speakers.

Base stereo set-up is 4 speakers.

And when he says for speakers, he means 1 in each door and 2 on the back deck below the rear glass. You can see the bottoms of them from the trunk, however you ever need to access them to replace or remove, that has to be done from inside the passenger compartment.

And I would strongly advise improving your headunit before improving your speakers or subs. I replaced my Shaker 1000 head with a Pioneer 4200DVD and it makes the bass slam!
