Default Accidental reversing

Anyone else do this? I've never owned a car before with reverse on the left side of the gate. It seems way too easy to select reverse. I would say I accidentally put it in reverse at least twice a month.

Only owned the car 3 months so far.

Never done it... There is something with the way you are shifting that is making this happen... I would also recommend taking the car to the dealership because there might be something wrong with the shift gate (you know how you have to push down and to the top/left). Its designed to make it difficult to do when moving forward...

Don't you have to push down on the shifters in the 5.0's to engage reverse?

Yes you do, but the spring is so light that it's very easy to push down on the shifter would noticing. I've done it more then a dozen times myself. Thankfully I have the backup camera in the rear view mirror, so I am alerted.

Oh, alright. Interesting.

OP, I'd say your best bet is to get yourself used to just pushing sideways on the shifter then up into the gate for first. Focus on not putting any downward pressure. I mean, that's what I'd do. Every time I've sat in one I've never noticed it, but I'm sure it's different driving it everyday.

Very weird. No way you accidentally do it in my 2013 GT. You have to push down - a decent amount

I believe HURST came out with a reverse light that signs in the lower left of your windshield to let you know.

I have done it a few times in my 2013 GT when I was getting used to the shifter. I came from GM cars where reverse was all the way to the right on the top. I knew I was in reverse because the parking aid screen pops up on track app screen.

If you want to upgrade the shifter, MGW's spring has a higher rate on it then stock. Hard to accidentally go into reverse with that shifter. If you don't want to spend the money, you can take it in and see if they have a fix for it. Found this to be annoying on mine so I decided to upgrade the shifter.

never once done it .. the spring has way too much resistance to accidentally push down on it..
