Default Steering Wheel Thread: a thread about Steering Wheels

so lately, I've been considering replacing the steering wheel in my 2007 GT/CS

I've wanted the little thumb bump things (whatever they are called) ever since the Bullitt came out with them

anyways, questions:

-is it possible to put a 2010-2013 steering wheel in a 2005-2009? and if so, is there a way to make all the buttons work?

-what does everyone think of these?

Grant non-OEM (also comes in 2005-2009 style, grey inserts would match my two-tone leather)

OEM 2011

OEM Shelby 2011 (with alcantra suede sections)

OEM 2008 Bullitt (would lose the "metal" spokes)

so suggest away!

From what I've read you can't make all the buttons work on the '10+ wheels.

That Grant wheels look like crap, Joo. Don't do that to your pretty car.

Get the GT500 wheel it looks great. I'll eventually be putting it in my car. I think Tousley Ford has the cheapest one I've found. The only thing is, the LEDs in the new wheels are blue and the ones in our radios and stuff is green. So not really sure how good that would look.

yeah, I mainly included the grant just to be thorough

seriously, what is up with hexagonal steering wheels?

also, I think my MyColor is set somewhere around the new lights' color. or I could put in some green LEDs

I actually like the look of the Grant steering wheel. To answer your questions, yes, it is possible to put 2010+ steering wheels on 2005-2009 Mustangs and vice versa. I think the GT500 wheel is the best looking one. I'm not sure if you'll be able to get your stereo flashed for the steering wheel controls since it wasn't made for your model year. And I believe you would have to replace the pig tail wires on the new steering wheel from your steering wheel to get the light color to be green.

I installed the Grant wheel in my ride. It looks total bad *** to me. It's been on for about a year and not a single negative comment at the dozen or so shows I've attended. Defiantly not cheap leather and very well put together. My palms fit very comfortable on the wheel and turning is effortless. At least compared to the OEM. I guess I like crappy wheels...

well I do have the shaker 1000, which I believe is the same as the new model with stereo controls. so mayyyybe its possible?

also if its just pigtails, thats sounds really easy. I was expecting to do some soldering

My color comes with the blue theme, so that solves that.
As far as going with another year (because the Bullit one is indeed ugly), you'd want to make sure that the air bag plug is the same which I assume it might but assumption is the mother of all screw ups so...
Your only have controls for the cruise on your car so some splicing will have to be done to make it work.
The Grant wheel would be the easiest I guess and it doesn't look bad.

airbag was the first thing I checked pascal
It is definitely the same

as far as the controls, looks like Torch Vert was able to do it (and then some)

I'll ask him what he had to do to get everything working
