Getting so close to my 13' GT!! :)
UPDATE: A local FORD dealer is giving me a locked in price for a bare bones 13' GT. Now, there are no guarenteed rebates after Oct 1st, but the salesperson said there will more than likely be a new one upon arrival of the new car.
He thinks, and I hope, the rebate will be more than the current $1500. He thinks it will be $2000-2500. If this is the case, the deal works out for me. I will be 100% happy with the final OTD price.
6-8 weeks.....it will feel like an enternity!!!!
I've decided to have a my Black 13' GT ordered. Complete bare bones. I contacted 6 local FORD dealers and the lowest OTD price I've got now is $29.8k
I'm going to try for lower, but in Seattle, Mustangs are popular and this may be the best deal I can get.
The only sucky thing about this is no one will give me a trade-in value for my car. They say they can only give me a trade amount once the ordered Mustang arrives.
I'm at there mercy now.
The only two options I see are
#1....HOPE and prey that the dealer I choose to order from gives me a good deal
#2....sell my car in the 6-8 weeks it take to order.
My car NADA dealer trade is $4300-3800. I'll be lucky if they offer $1500. It's a 02' Merciry Cougar...76k miles, excellent condition, etc...
But, regardless....I'm getting close!!

I should throw this out there - order your car with a refundable deposit and be willing to walk away from the deal if they try to screw you.
you are NOT obligated to buy the car they order. they will try to pressure you and increase their profits.

From what I've heard/read I doubt a dealer will give me more than $2k for my trade. I'm pretty sure I could CL/auto trader it and get $3-3.5k for a quick sale.
Anyways, thanks for the info.
I'll post pics when I get her in!

All deposits should be refundable, even if not in writing. But having it in writing is good measure. I always put the deposit on my AMEX card, because if there is any funny business, AMEX is awesome about putting the screws to the company.

Definitely try to sell your cougar outright. Especially if you have the luxury of time. When I got my '10 one dealer said they would give me $1000, and the other said they would give me $900. It was gone the following weekend for $4500.
