Default cold engine running rich?

ok, so i bought this '05 mustang a few days ago and it came with flowmaster exhaust 4.10 gears and a sct tuner. i am running premium through her right now and have the tune set to 87 street tune, hoping to help out the mpg a little bit. i think its running too rich and this morning was a cooler morning here in georgia and on the cold engine when i was accelerating, not really getting on it, just normal driving i would get some hesitations, and when the engine got to temp i didnt notice this anymore. is this normal? or am i running too rich? the exhaust seems to be a little heavy smelling?

Fuel injected engines DO run rich when cold on purpose. It's like using the choke on a carbureted engine. I can't speak about the hesitation however.

Happened 3 time
This week for
Me, start the engine, wait a minute, runs a couple stops then everytime i get on the highway i stomp on it and it choked in higher rpm, only do it once when engine is hot it run perfectly, i really think this is related to the colder temp, car need to heat better, i got a supercharge tho. So now i wait a bit longer before leaving my parking and i dont floor it until temp is good, didnt have it happen anymore

you are just trying to spin a bearing!

these cars only run rich for about 1 minute on a cold start. After that the 02's come online and the fuel trims kick in.

try cleaning your maf sensor.

I was thinking it was probably because the engine was in a choke like warm up stage, i just got finished driving some errands around town and shes running like a champ!

Their is MAF cleaner you can buy.
It's not hard to do and takes only a couple of min but be careful and follow directions as to not damage the MAF.

Really all you do is spray it down with the stuff and wait for it to dry.
DON'T buy a cleaner that is a MAF/ other part combo cleaner.
Buy a flat out MAF ONLY cleaner.

Cleaning the throttle body may also eliminate the cold engine hesitation. Auto supply stores sell products specifically for this purpose.
