Default Jacking question...lol

So I recently saw a post saying that jacking our cars up from the rear axle isn't suggested. So my question is, what is suggested?

Thanks in advance

I jack from the pumpkin BUT you gotta use a board or have a jack that has a rubber mat or you can damage the rear cover or have the car slide off the jack..........scary!!

These days cars have better, designated jacking points. Doesn't mean you can't use the pumpkin, but it doesn't mean the pumpkin is ideal. I personally don't use it on modern cars. On some older, classic rigs, I do.
