Default Auto trans problems

i just put a junk yard 5r55s trans into an 06 and it doesn't seem to be shifting correctly now. i'm guessing the trans had been sitting for a couple months and after i put it in i did a trans fluid and filter change. i did however forget to keep track of how much fluid came out when draining.

When i put the car into reverse or drive it feels like its going into gear but the car dosen't move; i hear a noise almost like what u hear when your power steering is low on fluid. but when i give the car some gas it "knocks" into gear and will move. in drive and once it "knocks" into gear it seems pretty strong but is real sluggish to shift gears. i'm not pulling any codes on a scanner at all.

do you guys think i could simply be low on fluid? it kinda seems that way to me since it sounds like a power steering pump does. also how long of being in gear and moving at slower speeds in 30 degree temps does it take for the pan to warm up?

any input would be awsome

You need to check the fluid level and make sure its at the proper level. Low fluid will fubar the trans operation.

It seems to be at the right level but still have to rev it to get it into gear once in gear it is strong. 1st to second lags real bad and sometimes slams and 3 and 4 are ok and i cant get to go into 5th. Also getting a p0775 code which is a solenoid code. But i dont get why have to rev it up so much to get it into gear

Possibly a bad torque converter...
