Default New mustang

Hi all, new poster here...

I currently drive a 2000 v6 convertible and will be buying a 2014 (GT Premium convertible) as soon as they are available to order. I am curious about the differences in how they are tuned from the factory vs. potential. You could boost the output of a 2000 by 20-25% with simple add-ons (exhaust, CAI) and a custom tune.

How does the 2013, which is basically the 2014, do from the factory compared to potential with simple add-ons?

Thanks,
RT

well the 2013 gt's come with 420 hp at the crank from factory, but possibilities are endless. As far as bolt-ons (cai/tune, fullexhaust, cams, etc.) you could probably hit 450 hp at the rear wheels, because i believe these 5.0's respond very well to mods. Slap a blower on it, and youll be 600+hp. If you want to take it further and forge internals, etc, you could twin turbo it i guess if you want an extreme track car. Possibilities are really endless, but certainly isnt cheap at all

No, you couldn't. Unless your definition of "simple add ons" is completely different than that of most people.

The 5.0 has been responding to a good custom tune alone on the order of 30-40 RWHP. But to get 20-25% over stock you're probably pushing the limit of "bolt-ons".

The Steeda Ulitmate Induction pack that I am running on my '12 claims to produce 44 more HP @ the crank as well as 52 ft lbs torque. That total would add up to 456 crank HP and 442 likewise on torque. I see no reason Steeda would "lie" or "hedge" numbers and it does fall close to what Nuke posted above. These "new" 5.0's are really resopnding well to tuning now that all of the #8 hype has settled down. The "new" 5.0 in and of itself is a good, solid, strong powerplant. Tuning it refines it better than the 4.6 repsonded to tuning IMHO.

How did you place your order? Every dealer I went to in the last month or spoke with are not taking orders for 2014's yet. Before I bought my 2013 I even asked and this was just this past Saturday.

Ford has been doing that a lot...
It's not even 2013 yet and you can order a 14.
Maybe next year I'll ask them to start building me my 2025 Mustang... Oh wait!! maybe not.
I might end up with a coffee grinder under the hood by then...

I'm already building my 2016. You guyz are crazy thinking that you can order a 2025 now. You have to wait until 2015 for that.
