Ordering new 2013 - Help!
I've decided to order a new 2013 as I cant seem to find one locally with the options I want. Looking for a 2013 GT Premium in Sterling Gray w/ Track pack, Electronics pack, and Recaros.
I've never ordered a new car before so I have a few questions about what to expect:
1) Time till delivery? I'm assuming 3 months+ if not more
2) How negotiable is the price? What type of deposit is normally required?
3) Do certain dealers receive order priority over others?

2) Very negotiable. The dealer should always be glad to have a customer come along that is willing to guarantee an order with them before the car even hits their lot. Always push for less than invoice. Deposit depends, many say you shouldn't have to put down any deposit, I put down $1000 on mine when I ordered.
3) Yes, usually volume dealers are going to be able to pump your car through the works faster than small-town dealerships.
1: 6-8 weeks as previously mentioned may run late .. they are actually just about to produce the 2014 model.. not sure you can even order a 2013 at this point .. why not wait for the 2014 anyways? it will help on resell value and it is literally right around the corner : )
2: most want 500$ refundable deposit down at least .. and you can negotiate price in advance. shooting for invoice cost is good.
3: dealerships receive certain allotment values based on the volume they sell - a larger volume place, as previously mentioned, will get slightly higher priority in ordering.

Definitely go to a dealership and chat it up about the 2014. This is the 3rd time today I've seen this mentioned that Ford is already taking 2014 orders. There is a slight price increase on the GT models (under $500, not too bad) but not sure at all why they increased it. I would say wait it out a month or two and see what the 2014 has in store for us
For what you will pay for all of those options why not just get a BOSS 302?
I did a build & price and it would cost $43,000+ MSRP sticker, a BOSS 302 starts at $44,000 and already has most of that stuff standard.

My build and price comes to ~$41,500. Boss 302 with recaros comes closer to 46,000 and is in much higher demand so less negotiable IMO. I also am set on the electronics package w/ nav. My father has it in his explorer and from what I've seen of it it works great. I've considered the BOSS but it seems like most dealers want to much of a premium for it.
Wow! It is still 2012 and production of the 2014 models starts in January? Really? Then again, the 2013 Mustang was an "early release" and was seen in dealer inventories in April of 2012.
Ford could be doing this as a way to hype of the early release of the 2015 Mustang - which is supposed to be a top-to-bottom redesign. Putting it out in April of 2014 would be the 50th (!) anniversary of the original 1964 1/2 Mustang. Rumor has it that the 2015 Mustang GT will have an independent rear suspension.
So I went into one of the local ford dealers. 2013's have been "balanced out".. meaning they will produce no more than what is already on order. Sadly that means they can't get or find the exact car I'm looking for. They tried to put me in a Black base GT with brembo package and called me in for a test drive saying it was "exactly" what I was looking for. mmmmm not quite. Took the drive but it didn't have the 3.73s or electronics package and I really don't want a black car (been there done that). They have order sheets for 2014's but no price sheets so an order can't be made yet.
