Default Finally Installed!

I've been buying parts here and there for this new axle for several months. Now it's finally done! I was pretty nervous to leave it in the shop, since it took a lot of back roads to get to and from my experience, not a very good area. When I walked in the shop itself, there was an old Cobra, newer Saleen, a Roush and a '13 GT500. That really calmed a lot of my nerves.

Old 7.5"

New 8.8"

The first couple of days I took it real easy going back and forth to work, getting everything set in place. Took it out for the first time today to test it all out and I can't get this smile off my face. To me, the difference in acceleration was well worth the money. I don't think i'm going to be suffering too much in gas, since I never get on the highway. But, let's face it, we didn't buy our cars for gas savers.

All in all, it was money well spent. I would definitely recommend this upgrade to anyone who's considering doing it.

Next step is to lower it and put some new wheels and tires.

Thanks everyone! I remember someone on here told me to do it, and i'm glad they did. It looks so much better than having that rusted axle. Even if nobody will see it, i'll know.

I've been pretty set on the 18" Staggered Machined GT500 wheels from AM, but I haven't really looked into Vossen Wheels. When I get to work, i'll have to look at your selection and see if I like anything better. I've seen some of your wheels on your Mustangs, and they do look great.

New parts are always fun. What was the name of the shop that did the work and where?

It's a place called Excessive Motorsports in Northern Virginia. I've heard a couple of people talk about it on here, and that's when I looked them up. They said they specialize in Mustangs, but there are a lot of shops around here that say they "specialize" in one brand of car, when really, they don't know anything.

Fortunately, they really did know what they are doing, and I couldn't be happier. I would recommend them to anyone/everyone in the area with a Mustang.
