Default Please help me decide!

So, I'm in the market for my first Mustang to be used as a daily driver. Car for past 10 years has been a BMW 530. Thought I would try a sportier car and --American made. The practical side of me is thinking GT Premium with automatic trans. The fun side is thinking Boss 302. Would the Boss be a comfortable daily driver (commute 30 minutes each way)? Or would GT Premium automatic be best in long run? Are there big negatives with auto trans? thanks in advance.

Where abouts in VA (roughly)?

I remember those 3-digit county roads being a lot of fun on either a bike or in a car meant (or modified) to be driven hard.

Personally, I've always felt that life is too short to spend any of it driving boring wheels. Every car in my sig has a manual transmission (and the three I used to have that aren't listed were MT as well).

The 2011+ Stangs are more refined than the '05-'10's. With that said, I often drove my '07 GT (garage queen and not my DD) for those long trips as opposed to my '08 SUV simply because the Stang was 10 times more fun despite the roominess and nicer ride of the SUV.

I wanted a manual but wasn't willing to wait 3 weeks so ended up getting a auto. It was lacking for the first 2 weeks till I got my CAI and Tune. I haven't been disapointed since then. I drive 2 hours round trip every day, I am kinda glad I have an auto now lots of sitting in traffic jams. If you are going to use it as a DD and you sit in traffic a lot it is something to consider.

DD's scream a/t to me and to put those kind of miles on a premium edition stang (boss 302) doesn't make much sense to me.
I would (and did) go auto...just make sure you get a tune sooner rather than later. Makes all the difference in the world on an auto.
good-luck!

I own vehicles with both trannys, if your gonna be in traffic regularly then get the auto. If you plan to competitively drag race it, get the auto. A tune with the auto is a must too as Mayo stated.

I'll never own another manual for a DD with my commute (1 hour/40 mile, one way). I would go with the GT Auto combo. I love manuals, own a Mach 1 with a 5spd. That being said, I love my auto '06 GT as a daily and have no intention of going with a standard for my DD anytime soon. Hell, with the money you save buying an auto GT, you can add aftermarket parts to keep up with the Boss so you can have your cake and eat it too.

I got the 2011 GT auto and have no regrets, It's my DD and i commute about 60 miles a day. I have not yet gotten a tune, but from what I've read it's only going to make it better, improved shifts, more responsive, etc...

I have a '13 with the auto and don't regret the decision. I've had the car for 6 months or so oand have over 12k miles on it thanks to my job. I don't think I"d be enjoying it so much if it was a manual.

Of course I have nerve sciatica in my left leg so that was a consideration too.
