Question Just another newbie question about tuning

Hi guys. I'm planning to purchase my first (can't wait ) 2013 mustang gt next month. I'm aware that stock gt has 420 hp. I wanted to know if it's possible to tune the car to 550+hp without a turbo/superchargher? I emailed americanmuscles for support, but other's opinion won't hurt either. I'm actually planning to spend 3000-6000$ for tuning only. If you were me, how would you spend your hard earned money to gain more ponnies?

Thanks guys

550+ to the wheels, not likely NA. 550 Flywheel, Port and polished heads, Boss Intake, racing cams and accompanying hardware may get you there or at least close enough. A 125 shot of Nitrous for the occassional 550HP spurt would be easiest.

if you're already willing to drop 6k, why not just supercharge it and be done?

That 420 HP is at the crank. A stock 13' 5.0 typical RWHP is about 350; tuned, about 380-390 RWHP. Toss in some bolt-ons and you're in the 410-420 range without getting into the engine too deep.

Guys, any experience where/how to buy a supercharger and what parts needs to be replaced on a stock GT in order to install it?

Brenspeed is a big player in FI for mustangs... But your location could affect if hey are even an option. The Roush super charger kit might work for you, and don't dismiss the FRPP supercharger to name just a few.

Congratulations! You're going to love the 2013 GT, the new coyote motor is unbelievable. They come equipped with a 420 (to the crank) 302 cubic engine, 5.0L motor! To the wheels, that will put you in the mid 300 wheel horsepower range.

With some basic bolt on's and a Bama custom tune, you're 5.0 will be sitting right around 410-420 to the wheels! If you're looking to be around the 550RWHP mark, your going to need FI or a decent shot of nitrous.

We can definitely point you in the right direction, we carry all of the parts to turn your GT into an entirely new animal! Give my CS team a call and they'll gladly point you in the right direction. Our Mustang Experts are here Monday-Friday from 9AM-9PM EST and Saturdays from 9AM-5:30PM EST. If you want to hit them up, their number is 866.727.1266. I can also have one of them call you directly.

Most of the kits you can buy these days, (unless you go with a tuner kit), will come with everything you need to run reliably at the power level you are looking for. I went with the Vortech kit and spent about what you are looking to spend and have never looked back.
