Default NEED SCT TUNER HELP

hey guys, i recently purchased a used sct x3 for my gt and have had nothing but issues. i signed up for the tunes for life through AM and tried uploading to the device. I got the message "serial number doesnt match aborting" it shows the serial number sent with the tune which IS correct. But where it shows the device serial number its blank. i tried calling sct support and they are closed until monday. i called AM and they said its an sct issue. any ideas? i go into the "my computer" setting and the device isnt showing up in there either???? help please

The problem might be the "used" SCT. Have you had SCT go into it to unlock or reset it? They charge $150 the last I heard.

Unfortunately, it sounds like it maybe an issue with the used SCT tuner. You may have to wait until Monday to speak directly with a SCT rep for a resolution. Unless, someone on the forum has experience with this issue and has some suggestions and/or ideas.
Keep us posted....Good luck!

try these things....

have you just hooked it up to your car and found out if it's unlocked?

also try updating it through the SCT site. It may take an attempt or to to do this.

You have to install the software/drivers on your PC before the unit will be recognized - not sure if you've done this or not.

Another used SCT frustration story? I simply don't see the "bargain".

i installed the software and now can see the tuner in my pc. the problem with the loading tunes to it still continues. i tried to update firmware and even saved the software to my pc. upon updated it asks for the software ( the whole reason i downloaded the program i thought) i am completely lost AND frustrated. listen to me when i say NEVER BUY A USED TUNER. its a pain in the ***. im going to get in contact with sct on monday and will post the conclusion and how we fixed the issue. thank you all for the replies

Sorry for your aggravation. Had we known you were planning on purchasing a used tuner we'd have warned you. The forum has quite a bit of info on just about anything Stang.

I had the same problem with my tuner; its firmware was too old to be updated using the SCT updater program. Call SCT, they'll log in to your computer remotely and update your tuner.

Talking

an update on the issue. i called sct tech support and was on hold maybe 5 minutes and he logged into my computer reformatted the tuner and BAM within 10 total minutes it was good to go. i went from 100%unhappy with the product to very happy.
