coolant

When checking coolant level, the engine should be cold. The coolant level should stay fairly constant, but I wouldn't be concerned if you need to top up by a few ounces from time to time. A tiny bit of coolant could seep from the weep hole at the water pump. If the system has been flushed recently there's the possibility that there are air bubbles in the system that purge themselves and cause the coolant level to drop. Always keep an eye on the coolant level after a flush, and be sure to run the heater a bit so that the coolant circulates through the heater core.

I stored the car for the winter months and just took it out last weekend and noticed it was down about half inch it was at the top line cold and now it's at the second line! I mean its still in the safe zone! I thought maybe the water in the coolant evaporates with time

i have the same issue. low milage car.
i'm certain the stangs system isn't a closed system..the resovoir cap has a 16 psi rating..
now after driving mine for a while i can hear a very slight his from the said cap..
i have ordered a new cap because i think the original one is losing it's psi rating.
hopefully i'm right..but mine does take a tiny ammout of coolant after about 500 miles of driving.
new cap should cure it i hope

on all other cars i have owned the expansion tank cap has been a tight fitting none psi rated cap..i'e totaly closed system
if it releases at 16psi surely that means a little steam will be released aswell.
cant find any hard info on this on the net.
hopefully some of u stang fanatics can put me and 2010stangers mind at rest

no hissing from it after a drive?
mine does.
tbh i wouldn't worry too much...mine takes coolant aswell and runs perfectly..oil is clean..water is clean..no white smoke from the back...
