Default rear bumper delete?

Just daydreaming here while I wait for the snow to melt, but has anyone seen a body kit that minimizes the rear bumper of the s197? The other day I saw a f150 with its rear bumper taken off and it looked pretty sweet. I've always loved the look of cars where you can see the exhaust, tires and pumpkin. Kinda like what dragsters got going on when they have the rear ends jacked up. Here are some pics of what I mean.

Uhhh.. Instead of lowering the car, lift the rear. Slap some crazy tall tires out back and you'll have that look.

And some idiot taps you from behind and wrecks everything you've got. Keep the bumper.

most of the pics you posted still have their rear bumper. Are you talking about removing the bumper cover or the actual bumper beam. It would take alot of work to finish the sheetmetal under the cover to where it would look good.

This is from when I was swapping out covers

Well I like the look of classic american muscle before more functional bumpers became a requirement later in the 70s. Back then cars had a completely different shape because the bumpers were different. The only part of the s197 that takes away from the retro look imo is that bumper. I was just wondering if there was ever a re-styled s197 rear end that has that more classic look.

Thanks for uploading that picture, it gives me some insight into whats under that bumper. I was thinking the spare wheel trunk were removed, it would allow the mounting of a smaller bumper, maybe a chrome one like on the '67/'68 mustang.

Anyway, I'll show all these nay-sayers. One day I'll renovate the rear end and the everyone will call me a genius!
