Hi guys, sorry about stupid question. It just popped into my head.

2013 GT (just GT with no options) has engine guard? (aluminum bar with "GT" on it and running from left to right over the engine)

I see many engine pictures with a guard on internet but mine does not have one. Probably coming with "GT Track Package"? I checked Ford website but it does not say anyting about engine gurad. Thanks!

 

It's called a strut tower brace.

 

The purpose is not to guard the engine from any kind of damage, but to add stiffness to the frame so that the body doesn't flex when cornering. I'm not sure of the packages that include it, but it's a performance upgrade. Most Mustang parts sites will sell one.

Ford only includes STB with 19 inch wheels

 

I'd think the hood should be called "engine guard".

 

I have one for sale if you want one, just sayin haha.

And for the record, my shop teacher used to say the only stupid question is the one you don't ask...

 

Any `11-13 GT with 19" wheels will have a factory STB, this includes Brembo's and CS's.

 

Or just the optional $995 19" wheel packages.
