Ship It or Drive It?

Ship It or Drive It?
Next week, I'm going with the "Boss Lady" to pick up an 09 GT/CS she is in the process of buying. The car has very low mileage and we have discussed shipping it back instead of driving the 750 miles back from TX to AL. Anyone have any experience with this? Most enclosed transports are going to run around ~$800. Should we just suck it up and make the drive back or transport it while we fly back? If we drive, what is the best way to protect the front end? I've bought 2 rolls of blue painter's tape but have heard of other methods....

the painters tape is the cheapest way to go. Just be careful if it starts to rain. Driving that route you were certainly have lots of rocks and bugs fly at the car. There is nothing good about driving 65 and 20 for mustangs.

Its a Mustang, did you buy it to tuck it away in a garage and stare at it, or did you buy it to drive? I just came back from a 3116 mile road trip in my '12 mustang and it was the best road trip I ever took...

Drive that Mustang. It's in all reality a mediocre performing sub-30k sporty coupe. Only models like old very low mile GT500s, Eleanors, and such bring back big returns after many years.
I love my Stang, its my most favorite possesion and my reward to myself for making something of myself...but I drove it from Texas to Utah because it's a car and it's meant to be driven. Don't ever put money into something you cannot afford to replace. If you can't aford to drive that car then sell it and get a Honda.
I vote drive it, and don't tape up the front end...the baddest Mustangs I've seen have signs of being driven and enjoyed. snobs buy the collector mustangs. real mustang lovers drive their cars

If you're buying the car for show, then trailer it wrapped. If it's to drive, regardless if as a DD or as a weekend warrior, then drive it. The 1st 1 3/4 years I owned my weekend warrior, I drove from KY to Chicago about every 2 weeks. In addition, she's been on a number of 2000 mile + road trips. Other than 3 paint chips up front after almost 40k miles, I'm thrilled to be able to take her on trips. The Stang is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much more fun to drive on trips than my SUV.

Drive it! The greatest thing about the 'stang is they are made to be driven. Very few make it to the ranks of trailer queen. Use some kind of clear bra or 3m clear protector if you are worried about stone chips. Painters tape would look ridiculous on an 800 mile trip. Show off that new car and be proud of her!

Well looks like I agree with the group here when I say to drive it. Mustangs always look better when you can tell they have been used properly (driven hard, and driven alot). A few chips here and there show character haha.
