Default Wax or Polish?

I have a 2005 GT in Windveil Blue Clearcoat metallic and washed her up the other day and noticed some flaws in the paint, not scratches, but some dark spots. plus there are some hard water stains. So my question is with clearcoat metallic, should I use polish or wax? I have almost always used wax but it was on "flat" colored cars, like white. I know the wax would "buff out" some imperfections in the white, but do I want the same effect on clearcoat metallic?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
BrookShadow_RC

use a clay bar first then wax...after waxing use a good detailing polish. I personally use the Zaino brand exclusively. The clay bar will remove any embedded dirt, dust, etc....

Wax and polish serve two different purposes.

I thought this site had some interesting facts and suggestions.. make sure you navigate through the different steps with the toolbar on the left

Klasse all in one, followed by klasse sealant glaze, followed by souveran wax -- redo wax when desrired ( usually every 2-4 weeks depending on situation ), redo Klasse all in one and glaze every 6-12 months depending on situation.

No more problems =)

PullMeOverRed05 is absolutely right, wax and polish serve very different purposes. I personally went with the clay followed by polish and wax. For now I just wax every week using Meguires NXT.

Hope this site helps www.autopia-carcare.com

I have also used the NU FINISH. So far it has worked great. But when I finish this bottle, I am going to try the Zaino as I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Take it back to the dealer and have them put on what they call, The Auto Butler. You won't have to wax it for 3 years.

Zaino is good if you enjoy the effort. You may get just a slightle better look with Zaino than the NXT but IMHO the cost and time and effort to do so with Zaino is not worth it. I've used just about everything out there in the past 18 years and NXT is my new favorite.
