CAI or Shifter ?

CAI or Shifter ?
I currently have a bama tune with stock cai and stock shifter... I wonder which mod would be more beneficial for the cost. I think id be going with the steeda intake or the mgw shifter. Intake would probably give a bit of HP and sound great, shifter would improve shifting...
hard to decide which to do for now

Steeda CAI!!
Shoot me an email if I can help answer any questions or provide any support? You can reach me at tim @ steeda.com
The power is a lot more fun up front ... the shifter will add to the fun down the road.
Best Regards,
TJ

Steeda CAI then the shifter. Since the Steeda CAI is 101mm vs. factory/other aftermarket 92mm (I think that is the size), it makes a noticeable improvement. Steeda also reuses the front air intake tube, and I know some of the others don't. Definitely added more low end power during autocrosses for me, and allowed me to kick the back end easier when I needed to.
For a cheaper bolt-on to the shifter, maybe go ahead and get a two-post lower bracket to help alleviate some of the issues until you get a shifter. Barton and MGW are the top two choices.

If I supercharge in the future, i suppose the CAI will not be able to be used at that time, since as far as i know they have their own intake systems.
Mabe the CAI would stop me from supercharging in the future and save me like 6000$ but actually cost me a couple hundred hp .. lol
CAI would be easier to install myself, and more enjoyable to install.
hmm
Shifter would be usable no matter what, but would make little difference at all if i nail the shifts with the stock shifter (have been having some issues powershifting 2nd at times , but other times i hit it perfect... not sure if its me or the shifter when i fail.)
MGW shifter is a bit harder to install than a CAI.. will take a few hours atleast and i dont have a good lift or access to one, so i may pay a shop like 120 for the install
I have been thinking the stock shift is a bit long.

I installed the MGW shifter myself. Took me about 5hrs but I was also watching the Masters this past spring while doing it. It's not difficult by any means. Their instructions are great, plus they have step by step video instructions as well.

I only used a jack and stands at my house, and it still took about an hour. You just need to lift it enough to get under the car. If you can do that with the tires still on the ground, then you are still ok.
If you get a Two-Post Shifter bracket (about $100), it only takes maybe 30 mins or so because it is mainly under car work. I don't think you have to do anything with the shifter inside the car if you just swap the bracket. Like I said, it will be a cheaper shifter mod to help you out until you get a better shifter. Most people do both at the same time anyways.
The thing with Forced Induction though is, in most cases, you are also going to have to replace some of the internals to handle the higher power. At least with the CAI, all you need is a tune.
