Default oops, now what?

Last night on the way home from work my car throws a check engine light. So today I plug in my tuner and run diagnostics. Tuner states no trouble code found....so I unplug and restart everything, once again, no trouble code found. So just for the hell of it I select the function to erase trouble codes, hoping that would clear up a glitch of some sort in the tuner and well....that function actually worked as intended, it cleared my check engine light.

So did I permanently erase the code or is it going to come back?

disconnect the battery for a few minutes this will reset everything, if there is a problem code it should come back

If if you're car driving fine, i wouldn't worry about it, just wait and see if the engine light comes back on. I wouldn't worry about it

Thanks, I will give that a shot.

The car does drive fine, no changes that I can feel, and I drive a lot, my commute to work is 30minutes one way.

Thanks guys

Erasing trouble codes with a scanner or other tool will have the same effect as disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes. Benefit of the tool is speed (no wait time) and reliability (you don’t have to guess that you waited long enough). I’d use the scanner if you have it available.

Could have been the gas cap code. Happens when you dont put it on exactly right. Happened to me the first week I owned my car and filled up with gas. No big deal.
